Selection Process of NIC Careers:

1: Shortlisting Based on GATE Score

  • Eligible candidates with a valid GATE score are shortlisted discipline‑wise and category‑wise in a ratio of 1:5 for personal interaction/interview, based on their best GATE 2024/2025/2026 score in the relevant paper.
  • Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on their discipline-wise and category-wise (1:5 Ratio) GATE score merit.
  • Equal weightage is given to GATE 2024, 2025, and 2026 scores.

2: Document Verification

  • Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification before the interview
  • Only those whose documents are found in order can appear for the interaction/interview, which carries 50 marks covering technical knowledge, communication and academic performance

3: Personal Interaction / Interview (50 Marks)

  • Candidates will get evaluated on
    – Technical (Academic) knowledge
    – Presentation/Communication Skill/Comprehension
    – Academic performance (0.05 mark for each percentage of the essential qualification)

4: Final Merit List

  • Final selection will be based on
    – GATE score: 60% weightage
    – Interview marks: 40% weightage.
