Responsibilities of a Quantitative Analyst:

  • Collaborate with equity research, quantitative research, sustainability research, and product teams to develop thematic and smart beta indexes.

  • Work on the complete product lifecycle including
    – ideation 
    – design
    – development
    – validation
    –  launch.

  • Support operational implementation of index methodologies.

  • Develop new tools and capabilities to perform portfolio construction or analytics independently, including the use of statistical and machine learning techniques.

  • Prepare white papers, reports, presentations, and investment documents.to support the go-to-market and product strategy plan.

Morningstar Eligibility Criteria:

  • 0 to 2 years of work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in 
    – quantitative
    – financial discipline
    – engineering. 

  • An MBA is preferred.

  • CFA certification or CFA Level II qualification is preferred.

Required skills:

  • Experience with creating Strategic Beta (Factor), ESG Indexes, or similar rules.

  • Knowledge of
    – Institutional investing
    – modern portfolio theory
    – portfolio construction processes.

  • Programming language
    – Python
    – R
    – MATLAB
    – SQL

  • Documentation habits

  • Oral and written communication

  • Presentation skills

  • Ability to distil complex ideas into simple explanations.
