Responsibilities of a Software Engineer:

 

  • Validate networking switch platforms through functional, regression, interoperability, and reliability testing
  • Design and execute PoE (Power over Ethernet) test plans covering IEEE compliance, power negotiation, classification, allocation, and overload scenarios
  • Perform interface testing across copper/fiber and different speeds (1G/10G/25G/40G/100G as applicable): 

   – Link bring-up, flap recovery, auto-negotiation, FEC, MTU, VLAN, LACP 

   – Throughput, latency, packet loss, and error behavior

  • Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for platform and interface testing
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
  • Analyze logs, packet captures, diagnostics, and counters to perform root cause analysis of failures
  • Work with hardware, firmware, and software teams to define test coverage for new features and releases.
  • Generate defect reports, test summaries, and release quality metrics

HPE Off Campus- Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in
    – Electronics
    – Computer Science
    – Telecommunications
    – Related field.

Required skills:

 

  • Testing knowledge for networking switches.
  • PoE testing and interface testing on managed/unmanaged switch products.   
  • Layer 2/Layer 3 switching concepts: 

   – VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, QoS, IGMP, routing basics  

  • Python automation experience: 

   – Test scripting, API/CLI automation, log parsing 

   – Experience with `pytest`/`unittest` and automation best practices 

  • Network test tools such as IXIA/Spirent/Trex (or equivalent traffic generators).
  • Linux, shell scripting, and Git.   
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in hardware-software integrated environments.
