Responsibilities of a Tapeout Engineer:

  • Convert product and technology development chip layouts (LAFF, GDS) into fracture data for manufacturing processes.

  • Prepare mask orders and coordinate data shipment to fabrication vendors while maintaining data integrity and archival standards.

  • Generate and manage reticle floorplan databases required for tapeout activities.

  • Develop and drive automation solutions to improve Program Generation (PG) and tapeout workflows.

  • Collaborate with process development, PDK, EDA, and business unit teams to ensure successful completion of tapeout activities.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by implementing best practices and standardized methodologies.

  • Ensure high-quality deliverables while maintaining efficient cycle times throughout the tapeout process.

  • Contribute to the successful execution of semiconductor product development and manufacturing programs.

Texas Instruments Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
    – Computer Science
    – Electrical/Electronic Engineering
    – Related field

  • 0-2years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

Required skills:

  • Understanding of Layout and basics of the fabrication process (FEOL/BEOL) 
  • Knowledge of Mask data tools like Cadence Virtuoso (Pegasus DesignRev / Mentor Calibre DRV 
  • Maintain a high standard for cycle time and quality
