Responsibilities of an Apprentice:

  • Assist the team in conducting quarterly valuation/ reserving-related activities.
  • Prepare data for valuation models and the development of the models
  • Complete defined modelling processes, including implementation of modelling assumptions, conducting model runs, troubleshooting, validations of results and their delivery to the reporting actuaries or business owners
  • Maintain audit trails and documentation of all significant validations and checks completed, as well as carry out the necessary validations and analysis to guarantee the accuracy of the data generated.
  • Ensuring the team deliverables are met as per pre-approved timelines
  • Perform user acceptance testing for various system and model changes for the actuarial production team
  • Encourage ongoing development, expand and improve different model building and validation tools as necessary, and challenge established procedures.
  • Apply technical knowledge and process skills to solve problems and develop solutions, i.e., investigating data/modelling issues, reconcile different reports/numbers
  • Assist with “special projects” that are carried out as needed to achieve certain goals.

Swiss Re Off Campus- Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in
    – Actuarial Science
    – Mathematics
    – Statistics
    – Economics
    – Commerce
    – Engineering
    – or related disciplines
  • A graduation in the last 3 years.
  • Must not be a Post Graduate.
  • Need no prior work experience, internship exempted
  • Enrolled in actuarial professional institutes (India/UK/US etc) – advantage

Required skills:

  • Fundamental actuarial concepts
  • Work independently, accurately and deliver to deadlines
  • Learn from highly skilled industry professionals across multiple fields to grow your professional development
  • Communication and social skills
  • Organisational and analytical skills
  • Shows initiative in identifying issues and supporting other team members, peers, and senior stakeholders
  • Desited:
    – Knowledge of the MS Office suite
    – Knowledge of MS Excel
    – VB Macros
    – SQL.
