Job Eligibility Criteria:

Indian Coast Guard is hiring candidates for the post of Navik/Yantrik.

Qualification for ICG CGEPT Recruitment 2026:

  • Navik (General Duty): Class 12th passed with Maths and Physics from an education board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
  • Navik (Domestic Branch): Class 10th passed from an education board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
  • Hygienist-I: Matriculation OR Industrial Training Institute (ITI) OR equivalent from a Board of Education recognised by the Central/ State Government.
  • Yantrik: Class 10th passed from an education board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) and Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering of duration 03 or 04 years approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
    OR
    Class 10th & Class 12th passed from an education board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) “AND” Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering of duration 02 or 03 years approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Indian Coast Guard- Age Limit:  

  • Minimum Age should be 18 Years and Maximum Age 22 Years

The specific date of birth ranges are as follows:

  • Navik (GD): Candidates should be born between 01 Nov 2005 and 01 May 2009.
  • Yantrik: Candidates should be born between 01 May 2005 and 01 May 2009.
  • Navik (DB): Candidates should be born between 01 Nov 2005 and 01 Oct 2009.
  • Hygienist-I: Candidates should be born between 01 Nov 2002 and 01 Oct 2009.

Age Relaxation: An upper age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates for posts reserved for them

Salary- ICG CGEPT Recruitment:

  • Navik (General Duty): Basic pay of Rs. 21700/- (Pay Level-3) plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on nature of duty/place of posting as per the prevailing regulations.
  • Navik(Domestic Branch): Basic Pay Scale for Navik (DB) is 21700/- (Pay Level-3) plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on nature of duty/place of posting as per the prevailing regulation.
  • Yantrik: Basic pay Rs. 29200/- (Pay Level-5). In addition, you will be paid Yantrik pay @ Rs.6200/- plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on nature of duty/place of posting as per the prevailing regulation
  • Hygienist-I: Basic Pay of ₹ 21700/- (Pay Level-3) plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances based on nature of duty/ place of posting as per the prevailing regulation.

      Indian Coast Guard Selection Process:

      • The Indian Coast Guard selection process consists of four stages-

      Stage I –Computer-Based Examination (CBE):

      • Candidates first appear for a Computer-Based Examination.
      • The exam consists of 100 objective-type questions.
      • Each question carries 1 mark, making the exam of 100 marks.
      • The duration of the examination is 1 hour.
      • The question paper is available in Hindi and English.
      • There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
      • Minimum qualifying marks are:
        • UR/EWS/OBC: 40 marks
        • SC/ST: 35 marks
      • If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, marks will be normalized.
      • Candidates are shortlisted for Stage II based on their performance in Stage I and the handling capacity of the Coast Guard recruitment centres

      Stage-II – Physical Fitness, Assessment, Documents & Medical

      Assessment & Adaptability Test

      • Candidates who qualify the PFT appear for the Assessment & Adaptability Test.
      • It is conducted through online/OMR mode.
      • The test is qualifying in nature.
      • Marks obtained in this test are not added to the final merit list.
      • The marks are used only for tie-breaking, if required

      Document Verification

      • Candidates must produce their original documents.
      • Details in the application form must match the original documents.
      • Educational certificates, marksheets, identity proof, category certificate and domicile certificate, wherever applicable, are verified.
      • Any major mismatch, false information or invalid document can result in rejection of candidature

      Recruitment Medical Examination

      • Candidates who qualify document verification undergo the Recruitment Medical Examination.
      • The examination is conducted by the authorized Recruitment Medical Officer.
      • Candidates must meet the prescribed Indian Coast Guard medical standards.
      • Candidates declared medically unfit may appeal at the designated military hospital within the prescribed time

      Stage-III- INS Chilka.

      • Candidates who qualify Stage I and Stage II and are sufficiently high in merit according to the available vacancies are provisionally shortlisted for Stage III.
      • Candidates report to INS Chilka.
      • Aadhaar-based identity verification is conducted.
      • Documents are checked again at INS Chilka.
      • Candidates undergo the Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination.
      • Candidates must submit required original documents, police verification, and other prescribed forms.
      • Candidates found medically unfit may undergo the prescribed appeal medical examination.
      • Only candidates who satisfy the required conditions proceed towards enrolment

      Stage–IV – Final Document Authentication.

      • The original educational and other documents submitted by the candidate are authenticated.
      • Verification is carried out with the concerned Boards, Universities and State Government authorities.
      • If any document is found to be false or not genuine, the candidate’s candidature/service can be terminated
